Lcm Genect is going to sponsor the workshop “Precision diagnostic in oncology – Focus on liquid biopsy”
“An effective clinic management of patients with advanced cancer requires at least two factors: an accurate classification of the patient and the choice of the most appropriate treatment through a precise evaluation of the patient’s activity”.
This is the premise for the residential course organized by the Oncology Department of the Italian National Academy of Medicine. Lcm Genect decided to join the other prominent sponsors of the event, supporting and attending the initiative that will take place on 19th October 2016 at the Hotel Michelangelo in Milan.
Several studies have shown the realistic possibility to get a dynamic biomolecular characterization of the tumor (compared with the collection of tissue samples through solid biopsies) pursuing therapeutic strategies based on repeated peripheral blood collections (the so-called liquid biopsy). Such a shift in clinical and diagnostic perspectives may lead to a more correct and personalized clinic management of patients in the near future and liquid biopsy may guide the decision-making process, instead of just being a prognosis method.
Divergent views about the choice of the collection technique, about the most appropriate sample type and about the storage conditions can still be a potential obstacle, therefore further detailed studies are needed.
